Duties and Responsibilities
Knowledge and recent experience on DOE/DOD/NNSA, and/or commercial nuclear
construction projects is preferred.
Work Operations: clearing & grubbing, loosening, digging, hauling, spreading,
compacting, and landscaping.
Static items: Mass excavation, structural excavation, common excavation, rock
excavation, select backfill, etc.
Equipment selection: rig speeds, rig sizing, efficiencies, digging equipment, matching
loading equipment to hauling equipment, graders, loaders, hauling.
Hauling Operations: efficient cut & fill operations, haul routes, haul roads, turn arounds,
bulldozers, scrapers, dump trucks, off-road dump trucks.
Hauling Roads: effective and efficient layout, development, drainage ditches, crowns,
road widths, dust control, minimizing adverse grades, straight stretches for acceleration to
permit acceleration when approaching upward slopes, etc.
Equipment Cost Control: facilitates preventive maintenance, provides a basis for
decisions concerning the economic life of equipment, assists in determining which
operators are most effective, furnishes historical costs for estimating future jobs.
Other: spreading, compacting, quantity, mass earthwork separation from trenching,
producing earth structures, benching a construction site to specific predetermined lines
and grades, prepare reports, and experienced in reading and understanding plans and
specs.
Individual will be handling/reviewing SRPPF documents to support the construction
process. They will be a member of the CM team for the SRPPF project reviewing
technical project documents accessing Secret Restricted data on a daily basis
Work Hours:
A 40-hour work week is scheduled. SRS utilizes various work schedules, including 5/8s
(8 hours/day; five days per week), 4/10s (10 hours/day; four days per week), and a 9/80s (9
hours/day, five days on week A and 4 days on week B). Work week excludes SRNS holidays.
Each workday has a 30-minute lunch. Work hours in excess of forty hours a week may be
required, as authorized by SRNS management.
Area Security Access:
Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q security
clearance.
Education
Masters degree or bachelors degree with specialized technical training.
Experience/Skills
Project assessment, budget analysis, technical organization analysis,
performance data gathering, project administration or program
management.
Minimum 10 years in supporting a commercial or federal science, nuclear engineering or task relevant programs or projects.
5 to 10 years in a management role.
Computer Experience (proficiency) in basic software application to include Excel
and Microsoft Word.
Candidate must have strong problem solving, analysis and interpersonal skills as
well as oral and written communication skills.
Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q security
clearance.
