POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Fire Protection Lead will provide construction planning support services to the NNSA Capital Projects mission being performed by Savannah River Nuclear Solutions (SANS), LLC. The primary focus of these support efforts will be construction Mechanical/Piping Design and Integration management assistance and support to the SAS NNSA Capital Projects initiative by the valuation of the various project scope, planning, cost, schedule and construction management plans. Additional focus is to develop Mechanical/Piping construction procedures and processes for primary construction management functions and project integration interface with engineering and procurement.
Typical Duties
• Develop Fire Protection Field Engineering Programs, Processes, Means, and Methods
• Develop Fire Protection Field Engineering Procedures
• Provide expertise and input to construction automation and Advanced Work Packages (AWP) for Fire Protection attributes
• Provide expertise for Construction Design Integration reviews
• Assist in achieving project completion deliverables
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Master’s degree or bachelor’s degree with specialized technical training.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of 10 years in supporting commercial or federal science, nuclear engineering or other task relevant programs or projects.
Experience as a Project Manager or Lead Field Engineer with Significant Field experience
Prior related experience in management or field engineering experience on a multimillion-dollar project
Ability to work in a diverse environment.
Satisfactory results of a pre-employment screening, which includes a background check and drug screening.
Ability to fulfill and promote L&A core values.

​​​LOCATION
Savannah River Site - Aiken, SC. Position will be primarily performed at SRS and various off-site locations as needed.
The Savannah River Site (SRS), a 310 square mile (198,046 acres) Department of Energy site, is located in the sand-hills region of South Carolina. It encompasses parts of Aiken, Barnwell and Allendale counties and is bordered on the west by the Savannah River and Georgia. SRS is close to several cities, including Augusta, Georgia and Columbia, South Carolina. It is also within a few hours of Atlanta, Savannah, Charleston, Greenville and Charlotte.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Successful candidates will be able to perform the essential functions of the job with reasonable accommodation. A 40-hour work week is scheduled. SRS utilizes various work schedules, including 5/8s (8 hours/day; five days per week), 4/10s (10 hours/day; four days per week), and a 9/80s (9 hours/day, five days on week A and 4 days on week B). The work week excludes SRNS holidays. Each workday has a 30-minute lunch. The period of performance shall be for a period of one year base period and an additional one-year option. An active DOE clearance is not initially required to perform assigned duties. Subcontract personnel must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DOE "Q" security clearance. After award, the selected uncleared candidate may be required to apply for a DOE clearance. Must be a US Citizen.
