pay range is typically from $114,000 - $144,000 with benefits package and PTO.
Position Synopsis: Successful candidate will be relied upon to perform a variety of engineering and design activities involving power plant upgrades and/or new power plant projects under the supervision of senior engineering staff. This position will offer the ability to directly apply knowledge of materials, structural analysis, piping stress analysis, structural steel design, and reinforced concrete design. Knowledge of the design and/or operation of PWR and/or BWR plants, including primary and secondary systems and experience with feasibility studies, equipment reliability issues, system modifications and upgrades to improve safety and reliability is desirable. Individual will assist with developing calculations, modifications, and designs. Individual will possess technical knowledge of the civil/structural discipline and ability to work on project teams with other engineers to assist in evaluating conditions and developing design changes which will improve plant performance, safety and reliability.
Education Required (minimum): BS in civil engineering from an ABET accredited university.
Experience Required (minimum): *7 years minimum (with PE) or *10 years (minimum) (without PE) of experience developing calculations, feasibility studies and engineering evaluations is required. Candidates shall have experience with the design and analysis of steel structures and/or reinforced concrete and working knowledge of industry codes including ACI, AISC, ASCE 7, and AWS.
Other Required Qualifications (minimum): All applicants must possess excellent and clear verbal and written communication skills as well as presentation skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, is required. Effective time management skills are required as position may involve working on several projects concurrently. Successful candidate will be required to understand and comply with company policies, procedures and processes. Ability to pass security and drug screening, and maintain unescorted nuclear plant access is required. Overtime work is required at times. Travel is required to client sites with occasional periods of field/office work. Ability to perform walk downs of equipment in an industrial plant environment, to include climbing ladders, accessing security-controlled areas, and entering confined spaces and controlled hazardous areas is required.
Certification(s) or License(s) Required (minimum): Professional Engineering (PE) registration if less than 10 years of experience. *(see Experience Required section).
Additional Education Desired: MSCE from an accredited university.
Additional Experience Desired: Experience in the nuclear power industry and actual field experience on nuclear plant projects with knowledge of the design and/or operation of PWR and/or BWR plants, including primary and secondary systems is preferred. Proficiency in structural analysis software including GT STRUDL, PD STRUDL, and STAAD. Pro and piping analysis software including ADLPIPE and AutoPIPE is preferred. Experience performing dynamic analyses with any of the aforementioned software is a plus. Experience with Soil Structure Interaction (SSI) effects, blast analysis, flood protection, and block wall evaluations, along with applicable industry software, is a plus.
