Education
BS Degree in Civil Engineering.

Experience / Skills
Preference will be given to candidates with previous CLIENT experience.
Preference will be given to candidates who have held a clearance in the past two years.
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in facility engineering design support.
Experience specifying design input requirements for commercial type buildings such as office buildings, warehouses, maintenance/construction shops and trailer complexes.
Candidate shall have knowledge and experience with the following:
• Conduct of Design Engineering procedures and requirements in the DOE/NNSA environment
• Department of Energy Orders and Regulations relative to the design requirements of DOE facilities
• Working knowledge of Building Codes and other Engineering Codes/standards requirements.
• Demonstration of working with multi – functional engineering organizations.
Ability to perform periodic fi eld walk downs of the job site.
Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills, excellent listening skills, ability to work well with others in a team environment, and excellent planning and organizational skills.
Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE “Q” clearance.

DUTIES:
Provide design authority staff augmentation support for the Design process of SRPPF Infrastructure Scope of Work at CLIENT. The design authority provides design input and specifies applicable codes and standards, collaborates with the design agency throughout the design process, and reviews and approves the design output.
Primary responsibilities include:
a) working closely with internal customers to understand small project scopes. These scopes may include a trailer complex, a commercial warehouse, an office building, a maintenance/construction shop b) developing design input requirements such that a design agency can perform design work to accomplish the stated project scope
c) determine applicable codes and standards that must be met as part of the design process
d) work closely with CLIENT Site Infrastructure engineers to identify appropriate locations for siting these new buildings/trailers with consideration for tie-ins to existing electrical power, water services and sanitary sewer and consideration for underground interferences
e) collaborate with the design agency throughout the design process
f) perform review of proposed designs for correct application of design input requirements and suitability for construction
Candidates must promote and negotiate solutions to stated technical problems and to gain support and cooperation with internal customers and support personnel. This will require frequent interactions with internal and external customers providing decisions for input.
Engineering services shall be provided using CLIENT processes and procedures. Programmatic guidance will be provided by CLIENT.

Work Hours:
A 40-hour work week is scheduled. CLIENT utilizes various work schedules including 5/8s (8 hour/day; five days per week), 4/10s (10 hours/day; four days per week), and 9/80s (9 hours/day, five days on week AA and four days on week BB. Work week excludes CLIENT holidays. Each workday has 30-minute lunch. Overtime will be expected at times to meet deliverables and will be utilized at the discretion of the Design Authority Manager. These positions will not offer the option to telework initially.

Area Security Access:
A DOE security clearance is not initially required; however, candidate must be able to obtain a DOE Q clearance. Preference will be given to candidates who have held a clearance in the past two years.
