[Fire Protection Engineer] FIRE PROTECTION DESIGN ENGINEER (ALARM & DETECTION SYSTEMS) - Aiken, SC w/ SRNS

Education
Graduate of an accredited engineering curriculum, or Registered Professional Engineer in Fire Protection, or Full member in the Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE), or NICET Level III certification in the applicable subfield.

Experience/Skills
Previous client Design Engineering experience.
Possessed an active DOE clearance (“L” or “Q”) within the past two years.
Eight years recent design experience, four (4) of which shall include alarm & detection systems design.
General knowledge of electrical/control systems, connection diagrams, layout plans, logic diagrams, panel layout details, P&ID’s, and battery loading calculations.
Candidate must possess working knowledge of National Consensus Codes and Standards applicable to fire detection and alarm systems such as , such as NFPA 70, NFPA 72, NFPA 90A, NFPA 101, IBC, and various other ISA and IEEE standards.
Experience with 2D MicroStation Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD).
Ability to use Windows Microsoft Office applications.
Ability to perform field walk-downs.
Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE “Q” security clearance.

DUTIES: Provide design engineering staff augmentation support to SRNS. Primary responsibilities include engineering task analysis, walk-downs, design development and generation of design output documents including but not limited to: Location Plans, Connection Diagrams, Conduit / Block Diagrams, Logic Diagrams, Panel Detail Drawings, Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams, and Battery Loading Calculations in accordance with national consensus codes and standards. Provide technical support to site construction forces, start-up & testing, suppliers or subcontract personnel. Prepare Data Sheets, Statements of Work, Procurement Specifications, Design Build Specifications, and Purchase Requisitions

Engineering services shall be provided using SRNS processes and procedures. Programmatic guidance will be provided by SRNS.

Work Hours:
A 40-hour work week is scheduled. SRNS utilizes various work schedules; including 5/8s (8 hours/day; five days per week), 4/10s (10 hours/day; four days per week), and 9/80s (9 hours/day, five days on week A and 4 days on week B). Workweek excludes SRNS holidays. SRNS Management will determine best schedule depending on work needs. Each workday has an unpaid 30-minute lunch break.

Area Security Access:
The candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q security clearance. An active DOE clearance is not initially required to perform assigned duties. After award, the selected candidate will be notified when to apply for a clearance based on specific work assignments. Candidates who have possessed an active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two years are preferred.
