Principal Engineer Civil Structural Design Engineering
Duration: 12 months with annual renewable terms
Location: Savannah River Nuclear Site, Aiken, SC
Per diem: GSA rate
DUTIES
Provide design and construction oversight of structural engineering tasks to SRNS. Structural engineering tasks include: analysis of structural systems for both static and dynamic loads using manual computation and computer programs; design of concrete structures; design of steel, aluminum, stainless steel, timber and composite structures; foundation and anchorage design; structural analysis for impact, overpressure, and other accident conditions; preparation of CSI specifications; and review of vendor documents.
Engineering services shall be provided using SRNS processes and procedures. Programmatic guidance will be provided by SRNS.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
BS Degree in Civil Engineering or current registration as a Professional Engineer in either Civil or Structural Engineering.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Q clearance within a year.

Experience/Skills:
Minimum of ten (10) years experience in design and analysis of nuclear or industrial facilities.
� Working knowledge of STAAD.
� Working knowledge of National Codes and Standards such as IBC, AISC (ASD and LRFD), ACI, AWS, NFPA, and OSHA.
Must be able to perform field walk-downs of the job site for the engineering work being performed. These walk-downs may involve construction sites with uneven surfaces and work in progress, walking for distances over a half mile, climbing ladders to access remote areas, dressing out in protective clothing and environments where a respirator is required.
Preferred:
� Experience in 2D Microstation Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) is preferred.
� Previous SRS design engineering experience is preferred.
Area Security Access:
The candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE �Q� security clearance. An active
DOE clearance is not initially required to perform assigned duties. After award, the selected
candidate will be notified when to apply for a clearance based on specific work assignments.
Candidates who have possessed an active DOE clearance (�L� or �Q�) within the past two years
are preferred.
Work Hours:
A 40-hour work week is scheduled. SRNS utilizes various work schedules; including 5/8s (8
hours/day; five days per week), 4/10s (10 hours/day; four days per week), and a 9/80s (9
hours/day, five days on week A and 4 days on week B). Work week excludes SRNS holidays.
Each workday has a 30-minute unpaid lunch.
