Duties and Responsibilities
Serves as advisor to management during the Achieving Readiness, Readiness Assessment, and
Implementation Verification Review (safety basis implementation) processes
Assist with development of Manual 12Q procedures
Advisor for DOE Order 425.1D Startup Notification for Readiness Assessments
Project integration into facility operations
Manages Startup Testing
Executes the facilities Startups, Achieving Readiness, Readiness Assessment, Self-Assessment
and Safety Basis implementation with line management and support organizations
Coordinates Construction activities authorized by Construction Maintenance Orders, General
Plant Projects and Line Item Projects
Performs technical reviews of designs
Provides Operations interface with Contract Design Agency, Design Engineering, Construction
and Project Management
Responsible for the effective integration of project work with facility priorities
Manages the activities of individual contributors in a functional area and has responsibility for
the successful operation of that functional area.
Acts under direction of immediate manager. Decisions have effect on the success or the failure
of specific objectives.
Implements both short and long term business plans as directed that contribute to the success
of the division
Acts on behalf of immediate manager in their absence including all responsibilities and functions
Establishes effective training program for subordinates to insure development of necessary
business skills
Held responsible for effective use of direct staff and budget
Effectively executes scope within established policies and procedures and maintain compliance
with all State and Federal laws and regulations
Establishes and enforces M&O Scheduling Policy and Programs to ensure compliance
Provides technical direction and Subject Matter Expertise to field elements that are responsible
for performing their work in accordance with the Scheduling Policy and Program
Performs assessment / surveillances to determine compliance to Scheduling program
requirements; identifies corrective actions as needed and verifies their completion / closure.
May serve as Readiness Assessment Team Lead and Member to meet SRNS needs
Required qualifications:
Education - BS degree in Engineering Technology or Engineering plus 10 years relevant work experience
in field of nuclear facility startup activities; OR NO degree and 15 years relevant work experience in
nuclear facility startup activities.
Experience/Skills:
Minimum of 10 years experience supporting nuclear facility startups, safety basis changes,
facility modifications, and capital project support
Experience in cost scheduling, work breakdown structures, Primavera software working
knowledge
Working knowledge of 10CFR 830, DOE Order 425.1D, and various DOE guides and standards
DOE-SRS experience is preferred.
Work hours:
A 40-hr work week is anticipated (Shi� 32). Each workday has a 30-minute unpaid period lunch break.
Area Security Access:
A DOE Q-level security clearance is required for unescorted access to all EM Operations facilities. The
position does NOT require HRP access (Human Reliability Program). An active DOE Q-level clearance is
preferred.
