SummaryThe Control Room Operator will be responsible for monitoring the status of all plant systems on a continuous basis. Respond to alarms and take appropriate corrective actions to execute plant shut down and start-up procedures as required. Assure that the plant meets its generating requirements while operating in a safe and efficient manner. The position requires on-call status.Primary Duties

  • Supervise the operation of the gas turbine combined cycle plant. Coordinate operations with the customers and maintain safe, efficient and dependable operation of the plant and systems as directed by the Plant Manager
  • Use the CMMS System to ensure work orders for maintenance on all systems and equipment are identified in submitted work order form; supports corrective maintenance efforts on selected equipment when properly trained or supervised
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of all plant systems, operating procedures. Has the ability to execute procedures. Has the ability to access, read and comprehend the appropriate plant manuals
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of plant environmental parameters and operate within those parameters at all times
  • Perform plant start-up, shut down and equipment operation on the Steam Turbine / Generator and all auxiliary equipment in accordance with operating instructions and procedures
  • Other duties as required
Scope of ResponsibilitiesThe CRO operates from established and well-known procedures under general directions and minimum supervision. Decisions are made within prescribed operating and casualty procedures and guidelines. The CRO encounters recurring work situations of high complexity, with occasional variations from the norm.The CRO has the authority to control the operation of the plant and must do so in a safe manner resulting in no accidents, in compliance with all environmental permits at all times. The CRO must effectively communicate information to supervision and fellow plant personnel, relative to the condition of the plant equipment and performance and provide suggestions for plant improvements. The CRO must perform duties in such a way to result in an optimum cost-benefit ratio.Education and Experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent, 5 years' experience in the power generation or related field. Two or more years of college or trades school desirable and possess a valid driver's license
Specific Skills and Knowledge
  • Knowledge of power plant equipment such as motors, pumps, boilers, turbines, generators, fluid systems, chemical handling, water treatment systems, cooling towers, pollution control equipment (i.e. dust suppression, bag house, scrubber, selective catalytic reduction unit), AC and DC electrical distribution and control systems, etc.
  • Basic understanding of fundamental principles of mathematics, AC and DC electrical theory, heat transfer and fluid flow, thermodynamics, chemistry, and metallurgy
  • Must hold an Ohio State Boiler Operations Certificate
Fit for DutyAll employees will participate in the Fitness for Duty Program. This program includes a post-offer physical examination and drug screening and post-employment random drug screening. There are extensive smoking restrictions in and around the facility.
