Shanahan Engineering are seeking out a very well qualified Electrical Engineer Technical Field Engineer for commissioning a power plant in Maryland. The only candidates that will be considered will have worked in a similar role previously and have EXTENSIVE Siemens equipment experience. This role will require a very high level of technical experience, specifically in operational and back office support. Qualified candidates MUST HAVE 8+ years of commissioning experience on Power Generation experience projects. Candidates must have proven and documented leadership experience specifically in electrical commissioning - guiding and directing field engineering and technicians.

• System walk-downs where the system engineers will be expected to detail any construction concerns and participate in development of the “Open Points” listing. Acceptance criteria as defined in the Commissioning Manual will be used to determine if the system can be accepted as being ready for commissioning.
• Prepare scoped drawings for plant turnover to commissioning indicating the sequence of Turn Over Packages aligning with the overall plant construction / commissioning schedule.
• Review the handover documents and ensure all relevant documents are provided and completed satisfactorily.
• Ensure systems are placed in a condition such that commissioning can proceed safely by the introduction of a thorough LOTO Procedure.
• Review and implement OEM commissioning instructions where applicable.
• Setup and testing of protection, sync check and metering relays (3 Phase test sets will be used)
• Check out, Verify and test all CT’s, PT’s, and control systems against drawings
• Perform initial energization of electrical equipment
• Perform Bus checkout
• Perform Breaker checkout
• Perform Switchgear checkout
• Verify correct rotation/travel of motors and actuators
• Check operation of switchgear (Electrical and Mechanical)
• Checks of alarms and warning messages
• Check of phasing on switchboards
• Verify system phasing matches engineering drawings
• Assist in generator protection tests (main work to be conducted by OEM)
• Checks of batteries and their charging systems, SG etc.
• Test and service transformers to include all supporting systems

Requirements (minimum):
• 8+ years’ experience in electrical commissioning in a Power Plant, specifically managing quality control and assurance during technical aspects of installation and commissioning of stationary and rotating equipment.
• Previous HV (High-Voltage) equipment experience and know-how
• Significant Siemens experience a MUST
