Subject: [Electrical Engineer] Electrical Engineer 5-10 years of experience range Direct Hire, Pittsburgh, PA
Contract / Temp to Direct / Direct Hire: Direct Hire
Country: United States
System One is currently seeking an electrical Engineer 5-10 years of experience range Direct Hire, Pittsburgh, PA.
This is a relay and control engineer position
Requires a B.S.E.E. degree from an ABET accredited college.
The preferred salary for this position is $90k with the maximum being $100k.
We are looking for the rare 5-10 years of experience range.
A PE is not required for this position, but it is preferred.
They do have to be ready to take the exam within the next year.
This means they must have their EIT certificate.
The candidate will be an individual contributor to a team and is expected to grow rapidly into a leader of a team.
The candidate needs to have a servant-leader attitude.
Some examples include: willing to take one for the team; willing to put the success of the project before a personal agenda; willing to do the work himself/herself if needed; and understands leadership is earned not granted.
The candidate is expected to be an innovative problem solver.
That is more abstract than concrete. We have rules which we need to follow, but there is not an exact solution for every scenario.
The candidate has to have the ability to deal with ambiguity. This will include looking for answers themselves as well as asking others for assistance.
We prefer candidates with hands-on experience.
Professional experience is best, but it can be personal experience (i.e. working on cars or other hobbies). Although our product is paper, our team needs to know how what we draw on paper is manifested in the physical world.
The candidate must have good communication skills.
The candidate needs to be able to communicate other than through email and texting. Although good writing techniques are important in our line of work, the candidate will also be expected to talk directly to our customers.
This will occur in person and on the phone, and then they will follow-up with email. Not only do our customers appreciate this approach, our employees do as well.
Our team gets uncomfortable when they someone not interacting with everyone (our team members generally like to assist new employees, but the new employee has to be able to ask for assistance).
A good measure of this soft skill could possibly be someone who enjoys reading and/or writing.
· Mark-up drawings for others to complete the CAD design as well as do some of their own CAD work.
· Contribute to the completion of scopes and estimates for various projects (new substations, circuit breaker replacements, relay replacements, etc.)
o Gather relevant drawings, review, and markup.
o Take drawings on site visits to compare the drawings to existing conditions.
o Write a complete scope for the project.
As the successful candidate gains experience, more responsibility will be given to the candidate with the goal that the candidate will become a lead project engineer supervising the design. Other advanced responsibilities include:
· Develop relay settings.
· Write protection specifications.
The successful candidate will enjoy the benefits of:
· Working in a professional environment.
· Working in an office with occasional trips to customer sites (sometimes overnight).
· Working for a company which encourages (and expects) employees to improve themselves such as obtaining a professional engineering license and taking on leadership roles.
· Working for a company which sees each employee as a human being and not just a resource.
