Position Summary: GT/ST Turbine Mechanic

Project: North America

Reports to: GT / ST Supervisor or Shift lead

Type of Employment: Temporary contract

Must be legally resident in USA and eligible to work


The Gas/Steam Turbine Mechanic is a field-based employee who performs mechanical work on gas/steam turbines on-site. The employee will work on a contractor basis and will be sent to customers’ sites by air or car, depending on travel distance. Taking performance and evaluation feedback into consideration, upon completion of a customer’s power plant shutdown, the employee may be sent on another assignment to a different customer’s site within Texas and surrounding states.

Key Duties and Required skills

Recognizes safety hazards and follows safety guidelines for personal protection, protection of fellow workers and the protection of the public.
Knowledgeable of environmental rules and regulations, and effectively apply them to all work situations.
Participate in the assembly and disassembly of gas & steam turbines, other rotating equipment and their auxiliary sub systems such as pumps, valves etc..
Reads and understands mechanical dis- and assemble protocols and blueprints
Has more than 1 year experience in Siemens/Westinghouse GT technology.
OSHA 10.
Ability to read Metric and English precision tools, such calipers, micrometers, etc.
Basic mechanical skills such as drilling, using wrenches, filing, etc.
Willing to travel extensively across the country to different power plants.
Continually updates knowledge of mechanical systems.

Key Attributes

·Experienced knowledge (1 years and more) of the mechanical assembly and disassembly of turbines and associated Equipment, Processes and Systems.

·To work as part of a team that collectively will carry out the mechanical Works associated with the common goal.

·Ability to follow instruction and thereafter, to use own initiative to complete required tasks.

·Effective communicator

·Customer focused

·Basic written and verbal communication at all levels

·Capable of delivering results in a diverse, ever changing environment

·If request willing to perform off job/scope work

Additional skills, but not limited to

·Certified Forklift operator (Class IV and V)

·Experience with Hydraulic bolt torque equipment (Hytorc)

·Experience with Hydraulic bolt tensioning equipment (ITH)

·Certified NCCR rigging

·Certified Overhead (remote) crane operator


Principal Working Relationships

·Reports on a daily and weekly basis directly to the mechanical supervisor / Lead.

·Direct working relationship, within the mechanical Team.


·High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred

·Solid in all standard MS Office and Adobe applications in a Windows environment, including Word, Excel, Outlook and Adobe Acrobat.

·Willing to travel domestically and internationally as required for specific projects.

·Be able to maneuver in close quarters and climb stairs, ladders, scaffolds and catwalks during the performance of your job.

·Be able to lift 50 pounds.

·Be able to work in extreme environments, which may vary from 120 degrees F to –20 degrees F and both wet and dry type environments.

·Effectively communicate in English verbally and in writing. Ability to understand instructions and follow directions in English.
