PIC Group's client is seeking an On call Welding Estimator in KY! Working up to 40 hours a week on an as need basis.
Starts Feb 10th! For a year or so on a part time basis!
Minimum of 10 years of experience as a project estimator and a history of estimating large scale welding and power plant projects.
Strong interpersonal skills, including effective verbal and written communications; ability to develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders; and ability to make decisions and carry out multiple tasks as assigned.
Knowledge and skill of project scheduling and bottom-up cost estimating.
Must possess strong experience and user ability for MS Project or P6 Scheduling and MS Excel.
Will develop complete and accurate specialty welding and machining project estimates that are aligned with current market price points for fossil plant power generation and natural gas facilities.
Responsible to develop, capture, and close competitive cost estimates for maintenance, modifications, and new installation projects. Must collect and analyze data on all the factors that can affect costs, such as materials, labor, location, duration of the project, and special machinery/equipment requirements.
Track historical estimates and analyze to continuously improve quality of bids.
Review customer RFQs / RFPs, including engineering specifications and drawings, to develop a comprehensive understanding of the project and overall plan for the actual project execution as basis for the estimate.
Perform Take-Offs to determine the quantity of materials and labor required to complete the project. Must make decisions concerning equipment needs, the sequence of operations, the size of the crew required, and physical constraints at the site; including allowances for wasted materials, inclement weather, shipping delays, and other factors that may impact estimate.
Attend site pre-bid meetings and walk-downs prior to forming a plan of operations and identify any problems or conditions that may influence execution.
Understand all aspects of project processes including planning, scope of work, schedule, cost baselines, and risk management.
Develop scope, schedule, and requirements for subcontractor RFQs. Manage vendor offers/estimates to select the best vendor based on cost, risk, and capability to execute.
Develop preliminary project schedules and Work Breakdown Structures to ensure alignment with RFQ and project delivery goals.
Coordinate and facilitate sub-contractor walk downs of jobs for planning, estimating, bidding, and executing work.
Support the O&M Manager as needed with vetting, recruiting, and coordinating craft labor to execute jobs.
Plan jobs and estimate cost to execute jobs. Planning would include estimating job duration, job cost, sub-contractor support needed, and identifying risks associated with jobs.
Developing basic high-level schedules to execute work. Microsoft Project or P6.
Roughly 80% of the work to estimate is expected to be welding of piping and valves. Requires experience with all aspects of planning and executing this type of work including weld specifications, R stamp weld inspection and quality requirements, pre/post weld heat treatment practices, Kentucky state weld inspection protocols, NDE requirements and planning, etc.
Requires experience planning the support required to execute welding and other balance of plant activities including scaffolding, instrumentation determ/term, low voltage electrical determ/term, equipment rentals, ordering materials to support job execution, etc.
Supervision of contractors and craft labor to execute jobs direct supervision, ensuring safe work practice, time reporting, daily activity documentation, etc.
