Position Overview

Responsible for the engineering, design, and construction oversight of oil & gas pipeline projects. This position will take direction from the Lead Engineer but is also expected to function under minimal supervision. The qualified candidate will be responsible for providing detailed engineering, infrastructure design, design review, construction support, and as-built documentation review under technical direction.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

Essential Job Functions
•Perform preliminary and final design for Pipeline Design
•Perform detailed calculations to compute and establish design to meet client standards and specifications.
•Prepare construction cost estimates, RFIs and change orders.
•Gather information and prepares technical specifications.
•Responsible for delivery of all engineering deliverables including scoping documents, P&ID’s, alignment sheets, fabrication drawings detailed mechanical, civil, structural and electrical drawings as necessary for a complete drawing package submittal to the client (30%, 60%, 90%, IFC).
•Coordinate with design team to ensure on time and on budget deliverable submittals and in compliance with all applicable client and regulatory standards and specifications.
•Prepare hydrostatic test plans and calculations
•Prepare isometric drawings
•Assist with preparation of applicable permit packages as necessary
•Coordinate with survey, land and other project stakeholders as necessary for detailed engineering design and routing of pipeline systems and above ground fabrications.
•Prepare and maintain project budget and schedules including cost and schedule tracking reports.
•Act as company liaison and main point of contact with client and other project stakeholders.
•Facilitate multidiscipline meetings with project stakeholders
•Prepare bid documents for materials, engineered equipment, and construction within specific discipline.
•Prepare project Bill of Materials in compliance with all company and regulatory design standards and specifications.
•Facilitate project bid meetings and construction kick off meetings with contractors
•Assist client with contractor bid evaluations as necessary
•Responsible for preparation of material requisitions, bids, vendor drawing reviews to determine compliance with specifications.
•Requires high level of knowledge and experience working with pipeline design codes and safety requirements including ASME B31.4 & B31.8 as well as 49 CFR Parts 192 & 195 and CPUC GO 112
•Generate professional plans and specifications, technical calculations, exhibits and reports for Trenchless Installation Methods such as Horizontal Directional Drilling
Job Requirements:


Education and Experience
•Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering
•Professional Engineering License
•5 to 10 years of experience in preparation of Construction Documents (Plans, Specifications and Estimates).
•Must be authorized to work in U.S.
•Utility experience is a plus
•Experience with design software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, CAESAR II and MicroStation is desired

Other Skills/Abilities
•Has a foundational understanding of oil and natural gas systems
•Stays up-to-date on industry changes and developments, including regulatory requirements and federal mandates
•Must be able to communicate clearly and work in a multidiscipline, team environment.
•Strong attention to detail, the ability to meet deadlines and solve problems are essential
•Skilled with Microsoft Excel, Word and Adobe Writer.
•Ability to travel as dictated by project requirements.
•Requires high level of knowledge and experience working with pipeline design codes and safety requirements including ASME B31.4 & B31.8 as well as 49 CFR Parts 192 & 195 and CPUC GO 112
