Accountable for the operation of the station to meet System Control load requirements, for the assignment, execution, and completion of work by craftworkers.  Accountable for the work being performed in a productive, safe, and quality manner, according to established Work Practice Procedures, with emphasis on environmental compliance and housekeeping. Accountable for meeting customer requirements.  Accountable for providing leadership to direct reports such that they have information, training and knowledge required to perform the work as required. 

Accountabilities and Deliverables

Responsible for integrating long term work effort with Capital Asset Management, Outage Management and Plant Management personnel to accomplish best practice initiatives of the corporation.
Directs the safe, continuous, efficient, and economical operation of the plant during the scheduled shift. Assumes full administrative responsibility for the operation of the station in the absence of plant management. Ensures the plant is operated to meet all environmental compliance standards including: SO2, NOX, and Opacity.        
Deliverable:  Station operates in a reliable, environmentally compliant manner while meeting System Control load requirements.
Communicates timely information and works closely with System Control concerning the availability and status of all station systems required to meet load requirements. Knowledgeable in the operation of system control and takes a leadership role during load curtailing events to ensure the duration of the event is minimized.         
Deliverable:  System Control has timely and concise information to make quality decisions during load curtailing events.
Clearly identifies and defines the maintenance that is needed through the work request procedure and coordinates with the Maintenance department to ensure that equipment is serviced in a way satisfactory to plant needs.  Utilizes the Daily Work Scheduling meeting for daily coordination of work and provides direction on future work through the Long-Range Scheduling meeting.  Verifies with Maintenance that requirements are being met for successful job completion.  Coordinates work across craftworkers to ensure customer priorities are being met in timely and quality manner.  Acquires equipment knowledge to better understand work processes to meet customer standards.  Expedites use of resources because of emergency situations.       
Deliverable: Completed work, performed in accordance with the Station Work Practice Procedures, which meets or exceeds the requirements of customers.
Accountability:  Provides leadership, coaching and counseling to direct reports regarding job performance.  Conducts annual performance appraisals and quarterly developmental review meetings in a timely manner.  Ensures direct reports receive training to meet or improve their job performance. Keeps employees informed of work requirements, business conditions, company policies and other factors that impact their work performance and work environment.  Analyzes and resolves work problems and grievances to create a productive and positive work climate.  Conducts weekly safety and information meetings.  
Deliverable:  Craftworkers have the information and training required to perform their job duties in a productive, safe, quality and environmentally compliant manner.
Administers plant safety procedures. Includes, but not limited to, the Clearance Permit System, Confined Spaces, and the Cutting and Welding Permits. Ensures all Material Handling personnel adhere to and maintain proficiency in all personnel and equipment safety procedures.   
Deliverable:  No accidents or equipment damage results while utilizing these procedures.
Demonstrated interactive participation in all areas of responsibility to assure accomplishment of corporate initiatives.
Responsible for daily plant operations and maintenance activities to include planning and scheduling of routine, corrective, preventive, and hot-list maintenance. Provide work planning and execution in response to forced outages. Responsibilities include 1) cycle chemistry control of boiler and steam cycle, auxiliary water systems, FGD/IUCS and byproduct quality control, 2) fuel and lubricant oil analysis, 3) wastewater quality control and environmental control reporting. Implement the Pdm, SRCM, and BRO programs. Maintain the Work Order Process. Maintain knowledge of plant and industry technology developments and equipment issues. Manage root cause failure analysis. Provide plant performance reporting, monitoring, and testing. Evaluate and select supporting contracted services as needed. Coordinate and execute field projects. Coordinate plant loss control and emergency response activities. Coordinate outage discovery work with Asset Management and Outage Management teams.

Knowledge, Skill, and Behavior Requirements
Knowledge: Associates degree in related field or equivalent work experience and knowledge required;  Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Skills: Written and verbal communication skills, and interpersonal skills

5 years of technical experience, or equivalent academic training.
