Title: Quality Supervisor
Position Type: Direct Hire
Project Description: Work for a company who is building a state-of-the art, ½-mile long building will employ about 800 construction workers and use 7,000 tons of steel, 52,000 yards of concrete and 5 million pounds of rebar. The mill will be powered by the 1,800 solar farms being constructed at the steel mill which is due to be complete by the end of the year the most green steel facility in North America.
We are seeking a Quality Assurance Supervisor to join our growing team located in Pueblo, Colorado. As a Quality Supervisor, you and your team will be responsible for ensuring the product quality meets or exceeds that of customer expectations and governing quality registries (ISO and AAR).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Direct, manage and coach a team of employees in a safe, fast paced, efficient and high-quality environment for the manufacture and shipment of Rail Mill products
Supervise daily inspection and testing activities performed by Quality Assurance personnel
Ensure a safe working environment
Monitor critical manufacturing processes to ensure ongoing conformity with standard operating procedures
Ensure inspection equipment is calibrated and maintained
Maintain required records and certifications
Coordinate Quality Assurance activities with Production employees and Mill Management
Work with members of management team to maintain ongoing compliance and continuous improvement of the Quality Management System
Ability to lead cross functional groups through complex situations to achieve specific goals
Capable of analyzing strategic goals and breaking them down into manageable projects
Must be a team builder with record of gaining engagement with both hourly and management contributors
Ability to drive quality and yield improvements using KPI s in conjunction with lean techniques such as 5s (6s including safety), mistake proofing, visual standard work, value stream analysis
Constantly focused on continuous improvement through removal of waste
Ability to work with the production and maintenance groups to increase yield through quality improvement methodologies
Implement automation and process control projects where necessary to improve product quality and personnel safety
Management techniques must include company methods (KPI s, goal setting, 6-S, accountability, feedback on performance while treating employees with dignity and respect
Developing monitoring and refining process control practices
Assuring consistent compliance with dimensional, surface, and mechanical and metallurgical specifications
Develop, Implement and Document, inspection practices
Work with Operations, maintenance and sales on customer, quality performance issues
Maintaining required ISO and AAR Certifications
rational and quality standard operating procedures
Developing quality control plans for rail mill products complete with reaction plans for non-conformances of process or product
Developing quality control procedures for inspection and testing functions
Developing quality management system and shop floor process audit plans
Developing incoming inspection plans for 3rd party supplied materials/services
Performing factory acceptance testing of supplied equipment or rail mill processes
Translating OEM equipment functionality specifications and other key operating information into standard operating procedures and employee training
Developing training materials for operations and quality personnel
Conducting employee training sessions with operations and quality personnel
Experience and training in ISO-based quality management systems
Experience with using and performing dimensional inspections on metal products
Previous experience in a supervisory or team leader role preferred
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and experience delivering presentations to a variety of audiences
Experience developing and delivering technical training to a wide range of audiences (technical/non-technical; shopfloor/staff roles)
Strong time management skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment
Education / Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in a technical field; candidates with an engineering degree preferred
2-5 years’ experience in a heavy industrial environment, steel preferred
Ability to walk, reach, climb, stoop, and lift (up to 75 pounds).
$80,000 - 95,000 per year
