This position pays $75 - $93/hr plus per diem $157 daily (for non-local candidates) and is looking for someone to start ASAP. The Wind farm Site Construction Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing and managing all construction activities at the wind farm project site while ensuring the safety of workers. They are responsible for ensuring that the project is completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards. This position requires a combination of technical expertise, project management skills, and leadership abilities.
Your scope of responsibility includes the following primary functions:
Project Planning: Develop comprehensive construction plans, including schedules, budgets, resource allocation, and procurement strategies, in coordination with project stakeholders.
Team Management: Lead, mentor, and manage a team of construction supervisors, technicians, and laborers to ensure efficient and safe project execution.
Contract Management: Oversee contracts with subcontractors and suppliers, including negotiation, procurement, and monitoring performance to ensure adherence to project specifications. Provide technical support of development activities and project management overview of the construction of the wind farm. Ensure all contracts (prime and sub-contracts) are effectively managed, including change orders and documentation of variances.
Safety Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols and regulations throughout all construction activities, emphasizing a strong safety culture.
Quality Assurance: Implement quality control processes and inspections to ensure that construction work meets or exceeds industry standards and project specifications.
Environmental Compliance: Enforce environmental protection practices to minimize the impact of construction activities on the surrounding environment, including compliance with permits and regulations.
Budget and Cost Control: Monitor project expenditures, track costs, and implement cost-saving measures while maintaining project quality and schedule.
Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential risks and issues that may impact project progress and develop contingency plans to address unforeseen challenges.
Communication: Maintain effective communication with project stakeholders, including project owners, engineers, regulatory agencies, and community representatives.
Documentation: Keep accurate records of project progress, construction activities, equipment usage, safety incidents, and change orders. Provide due diligence review of all project construction related documents, contracts, and field work for completeness and compliance. Verify and sign-off on various construction milestones (civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical) and update internal tracking software. Furnish monthly reports and status updates as required.
Resource Allocation: Allocate manpower, equipment, and materials efficiently to meet project milestones and deadlines.
Problem Solving: Address and resolve construction-related issues and challenges in a timely and effective manner.
Compliance with Industry Standards: Stay current with industry best practices, regulations, and emerging technologies related to wind farm construction.
Why you’re the perfect addition to our team (about you):
· Bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field desired; five or more years of onsite experience in the power industry with significant wind energy experience.
· Proven experience in managing construction projects, preferably in the renewable energy or wind farm sector on schedule and within budget.
· Strong knowledge of construction techniques, electrical and mechanical systems, and wind turbine technology.
· Familiarity with project management software and tools for scheduling, cost tracking, and reporting.
· Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to manage a team and work collaboratively with various stakeholders.
· Commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, and sustainable construction practices.
· Problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
· Willingness to work in challenging outdoor environments and adapt to changing conditions.
· Familiarity with transmission and distribution equipment, overhead and underground
· Project management certification (e.g., PMP) is a plus.
· Valid driver’s license required.
