ATSS Engineering is currently looking for a Manufacturing Engineer II for a client located in the Greater New Orleans are.
A Manufacturing Engineer II applies new manufacturing and assembly approaches, machining methodology and processes towards new and existing designs. This individual is a member of an integrated engineering and manufacturing environment, teaming with product design, quality, production and others in a working group environment innovating products and processes. Priorities include process improvement, problem resolution, project management, and employee training. Recommends and implements improvements to production processes, methods, and controls. Coordinates manufacturing launch for new or revised equipment, products, or processes.
MINIMUM SKILLS AND ABILITIES
•Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing/Industrial/Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred.
•Understanding of Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) principles and techniques, influences/implementation into a product detail design in a working group environment.
•Ability to effectively integrate DFMA principles and tools into the product design and manufacturing system.
•Use of advanced methods and tools including Process FMEA, LEAN and DFM&A.
•Writing operation sheets to produce complex fabricated, machined parts and sub-assemblies to meet customer and engineering drawings requirements.
•Knowledge of weld and braze joining process, specifically AWS D1.1, D1.2, D1.5, and D1.6.
•Experience with the application of ASME Y14.5, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
•Proficiency in CAD, CATIA, SolidWorks, FeatureCAM or comparable solid modeling design software and Microsoft office suites.
•Experience with the design of tooling and fixtures.
•Demonstrable attention to details and multi-task skills.
•Ability to learn and understand program objectives, milestones, challenges, corrective actions and risks.
•Self-starter with the ability to undertake work initiatives with minimal supervision.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND JOB FUNCTIONS
•Coordinates the manufacturing launch of new/revised equipment, products, or processes including establishing goals, training team members and evaluating results.
•Designs, develops, tests or sources and cost-justifies various tools, machinery and equipment for recommended manufacturing methods.
•Develop proposals for new or changed work process flow containing material/labor/other-direct-costs estimates and schedule impacts.
•Performs product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement and efficiency improvement.
•Develop and document manufacturing procedures and use DFMA tools to effectively transform 3D models and designs into production work deliverables/instructions.
•Interface with new manufacturing technologies, including involvement with NSRP panel activities
•Responsible for developing welding and brazing techniques, procedures, and application of welding equipment to problems involving fabrication of metals mostly steel and aluminum
•Develop process maps and work flow/instructions to establish operation sequencing.
•Employ Six Sigma and Lean principles for solving shop floor and design issues.
•Participate in the make/buy analysis process.
•Oversee accuracy control processes and tools, including data analytics
•Liaison between production and engineering on lifts, flips and launching activities
•Management of facility specific Design for Producibility manuals
•Controls expenditures within limitations of project budget, including interim and completion project reports.
•Keep management fully informed of all significant issues which could impact the manufacturing process, during both product design and manufacturing phase.
•Work closely with operations personnel in the definition of work and processes to be used.
