Lead Staffing has immediate openings for Riggers for a shipyard in San Diego, CA. As aShipyard Rigger you must know how to put together a sling -- the lines that attach a weight to a crane hook -- to accommodate the load that is being lifted. As a Rigger you must understand the use of different types of rigging slings for various loads, as well as how the slings interact with the crane that lifts the machinery and the distribution of a loaded weight. As a Rigger you must know the communications procedure for crane operations, both by radio and by hand signals. As a Rigger you need to determine whether a crane can lift a load and how to use ropes, called tag lines, to control the swinging of the lift. As a Rigger you must also adjust for the conditions at the shipyard, depending on whether the lift is to a ship under construction or to a ship afloat, to accommodate for its movement with the water. You must be able to pass a drug screen and a background check. This job is at a naval shipyard in San Diego, CA.
