The engineering technician provides technical support to engineers on a variety of technical tasks. Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical data, such as laboratory or material test results and engineering design changes. Produces engineering documentation, reports, drawings (flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics). Performs detailed mathematical calculations using established formulas; preliminary analyses of data where guidelines are provided in such areas as trajectory adequacy, model dimensional consistency; and quantitative judgments concerning technical data. Uses personal computer in performance of analyses and development of documentation/reports. May conduct tests and record data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis
These positions will support Work Control for Submarine Overhaul. Develop and process Tag-outs, Work Authorization Forms, Work Permits to support work, testing and operations during overhaul of US Navy submarines.
Associate degree and 3 years of experience.
2 years of related experience can be substituted for associate degree. 4 years of non-related experience can be substituted for associate degree.
An Apprentice Certificate or graduation from Navy Nuclear Power School can be substituted for associate degree.
Navy submarine experience highly desired. Nuclear electricians mate and machinist mates preferred. A-gang preferred. E-5 and above.
Experience with the Navy work control processes of the Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual and Tag-out Users Manual highly desired.
Preference will be given to Navy personnel qualified to their senior in rate watch stations.
Experience with Navy tag-out program eSOMS desired.
Ability to work 1st shift, 7 to 3:30 with overtime, weekend work and some 2nd shift support possible.
