Sirius Technical Services is seeking a Marine Dockside Estimator for an immediate, direct hire (permanent) opening with one of our valued clients in the Bay Minette, AL area. The ideal candidate will have dockside and Coast Guard related experience, and will be able and willing to travel as needed.

Marine Dockside Estimator Summary:
The Estimator is responsible for preparing competitive fixed price quotes (labor and material) for maritime / dockside ship repair. Determine work procedures, crew size, machines & tools, sub-contractors, and materials required to accomplish work at competitive price and acceptable margins. Conduct ship checks in order to properly evaluate the scope of work and obtain accurate bill of material (BOM) quotes in a timely manner. This position reports directly to the President. Travel is required. Dockside repairs are across the United States.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for the following: (Other duties may be assigned.)
Prepare cost estimates for product manufacturing, projects or services to aid management in bidding on or determining price of product or service.
Prepare competitive fixed price quotations (both labor and material), for maritime / dockside ship repair.
Determine work procedures, crew size, machines & tooling, sub-contractors, material, accessories required to accomplish work at competitive price and acceptable margins.
Coordinate with Louis Henry Contracting, Inc., staff and trades as needed in order to gather information and process requirements for accomplishment of work.
Conduct ship-checks as required in order to properly scope work.
Obtain accurate bill of material (BOM) quotations in a timely manner.
Maintain relationships with industry suppliers, vendors and clients.
Maintain and update contract pipeline.
Build estimates and quotes using approved corporate policies.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings and technical manuals according to specifications.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Ability to work under deadlines and schedule pressures with minimal supervision.

Ability to operate all Microsoft Office applications, to include Microsoft Project.
Ability to gain access to government worksites.
College degree in a technical or managerial discipline or equivalent Ship Repair experience.
5 8 years experience either in a shipyard or on a ship as an officer, port engineer or repair supervisor or 5 years as a construction supervisor.
Working knowledge of Excel, Project, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Word.
Excellent written and communication skills.
Willingness to be flexible and work with people to achieve goals and objectives.
Effective negotiation, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Ability to think clearly under pressure of time deadlines.
Open-air conditions such as noisy, hot, cold, as well as in an office controlled environment.
May have to visit projects aboard ships, rigs both on and offshore as well as confined spaces. Must wear hearing, eye, head protection and proper PPE when required.
Visits may require standing on a variety of surfaces and at differing angles, bending over, crouching and climbing up and over obstructions such as scaffolding, ladders, and internal barge and boat structural members.
