Information Technology Solution Architect 4 (iDS)

SUMMARY:
Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and
supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total
system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and
disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total
systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional
analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies
to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
The solution architect is responsible for the design of one or more applications, infrastructure, and/or service solutions that satisfy the business requirements. The solution architect must have a balanced mix of technical and business skills that provide technical decisions and direction for the solution and effectively communicate how they impact business outcomes.
Responsibilities include:
• Work with both the business and technical experts, to design solutions to optimize business outcomes. This includes which technology can be used to solve a business problem, how the application will work with what modules and interfaces, how will the solution meet the needs of scalability, determination of risk in solution alternatives.
• Provide detailed decision analysis regarding technology and process selection.
• Work closely with the Business Change Managers and the Enterprise Architecture teams to ensure solutions meet the needs of the business while aligning to the strategic goals.
• Support IT leadership in the development of policies, standards, and guidelines that direct the selection, development, implementation, and use of Information Technology within the enterprise.

Applies extensive technical expertise, and has full knowledge of other related disciplines. Able to
communicate effectively and clearly present technical approaches and findings.
Problem Solving
Develop technical solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and
creativity.
Discretion / Latitude
Work is performed without appreciable direction. Exercises considerable latitude in determining
technical objectives of assignment. Completed work is reviewed from a relatively long- term
perspective, for desired results.
Impact
Guides the successful completion of major programs and may function in a project leadership role.
Erroneous decisions or recommendations would typically result in failure to achieve major
organizational objectives.
Liaison
Represents the organization as the prime technical contact on contracts and projects. Interacts with
senior external personnel on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between
organizations.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in a related field and a minimum of 9 years of experience. Can be substituted with a Master’s degree and 7 years of experience or a PhD and 4 years of experience.
A security clearance is not required.
Required PPE: Hard Hat, Safety Glasses, Steel Toes, and Ear Muffs.
Proven success as a technical leader.
Candidate can demonstrate a robust technical background across one or more disciplines including SAP, Siemens PLM, Cloud, Application Development, Hardware / Infrastructure, Manufacturing, Engineering
Have experience working with a large scale discrete manufacturer, as well as an Aerospace and Defense environment.
Strong critical thinking skills.
Candidate has a solid foundation in technology and software development allowing you to influence the team, suggest technical alternatives, and recognize the better answers.
Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to business audiences, and explain business processes, concepts, challenges, and issues to technical resources
Experience with product development and lifecycle support is a plus.
