Job Title: Senior Relaying and Protection Engineer
Position Type: Direct + relocation
Position Location: KS & CA
•Perform Power System Relay Coordination Studies, Relay settings calculations including micro-processor based relay logic definitions, Arc Flash Hazard Analysis, Power System Analysis including Load flow, short circuit and motor starting studies.
•Perform Protection and Control Design including the development of Schematics, One-Lines, Three Lines, Wiring diagrams and interconnection drawings
•Implement protection schemes for power equipment including transmission to generation interconnection, generator, bus, transformer and circuit breaker failure protection schemes.
•Create Protection and Control Panel Layouts, create equipment specifications, review vendor shop drawings, and manage technical contracts.
•Field support including start-up and construction
•Working and application knowledge of 3-Phase power and Per-Unit Analysis
•Knowledge of Power System equipment and applications including switchgear, motor control centers, transformers, motors, breakers, and protective relays.
•The applicant must be able to read and interpret time current coordination curves, Current Transformer test reports, transformer and generator over excitation curves, equipment damage curves and thermal limit curves.
•Experience and working knowledge of industry accepted standards including but not limited to IEEE Std 1584, NFPA 70E, IEEE Std 242 “Buff Book” IEEE Std 141 “Red Book”
•Must have knowledge of Microsoft Office products and operating systems.
•Knowledge of Power System Modeling software including ETAP, SKM, Aspen, or EZ Power.
Education and/or Experience:
•BS in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited University
•10+ years of Relaying and Protection Experience is preferred
•Professional Engineering License is preferred
