This position is responsible for coordinating and administering activities related to transmission inspection programs and ongoing maintenance.
•Overseeing Transmission Line Maintenance inspections primarily including:climbing inspections, switch inspections, tower coating assessments and applications, underground transmission assessments, steel structure inspections, steel structure repairs and any other maintenance activities deemed necessary.
•Assists contractors that develop steel structure repairs by providing archived drawings, reviewing proposed engineering drawings and scheduling construction of repairs. May review transmission line structural loadings from the PLS-CADD models.
•Assists with the development of documentation required for proposals, bid reviews and recommendations
•Performs site visits to check on work of inspection and repair contractors
•Assist with data queries needed to develop strategies for maintenance replacement and inspection planning
•Reviews reports and assessments of different inspection program results
Recommended Education, Experience & Skills
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in electric transmission line design, maintenance, inspection, and/or utility construction field experience.
Having the following NACE Certifications is a plus: Corrosion Technologist and Coating Inspector
Thorough knowledge of transmission line equipment and transmission line maintenance practices is preferred
FAA Certified Unmanned Aircraft Pilot is also a plus
Computer skills: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, PowerBI, SQL Server, PLS-CADD, PLS-Pole, PLS-Tower, ArcGIS and proficiency in querying of databases and building of reports
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Database development and data management skills
Analytical and technical problem solving skills
Accuracy and attention to detail
Valid driver’s license required
Primary work location will be in KY.
