Duration- 6 months
Supports the Transmission organization in the safety oversight of transmission line maintenance and construction – including bare hand live line, hot sticking, as well as de-energized work.
• Conduct safety oversight of transmission line maintenance and construction contractors.
o Conduct pre-construction checklist and other safety orientations with these contractors
o Be present and participate in general assembly meetings with contractors and other *** personnel
o Be present and participate in tailboard and JHA discussions
o Must be familiar with and have the ability to interpret OSHA and *** regulations and rules
o Actively observe the work as well as interact with and coaching of our contractors on critical tasks, controls, system deficiencies and mitigation/elimination plans/strategies.
o Documentation and reporting of observations and any trends
• Work with the Transmission organization's management to ensure effective implementation of safety programs and consistent system-wide application of safety processes and procedures.
• Must have excellent oral and written communication skills so as to interact effectively with all levels of employees, particularly at the senior management level. Must have the ability to influence and motivate a diverse and geographically dispersed work force dealing with a wide variety of safety and training issues.
• Supports the workforce (in-house and contract), including, but not limited to: investigate incidents and safety related issues on the *** system, perform field observations to assure compliance of OSHA regulations and *** safety rules and procedures, assist during accident investigations and support training of *** safety rules and procedures.
Minimum education required of the position
High school diploma or equivalent or related work experience. Safety Certification and/or Bachelor's degree in the area of Safety strongly preferred.
Minimum experience required of the position
Minimum 15 years of experience in a related field.
Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position
Strong knowledge of computers and related technology. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to take and understand directives and complete tasks. Ability to make timely and safe decisions. Excellent knowledge of ***'s safety policies and procedures. Strong problem solver. Ability to manage multiple activities and changing priorities. Ability to work well under pressure. Self motivated and dependable team player. Ability to recognize hazards in the workplace and have the ability to mitigate the hazards. Ability to maintain and care for Company equipment properly and safeguard assets. Ability to meet the public in a pleasant and tactful manner and understand the importance of delivering a high level of customer service. Demonstrated acceptance of a diverse and inclusive work environment and customer base. Desired: Ability to recognize opportunities for process improvement and have the ability to enact change.
