Job Description
The Substation Operations Manager is responsible for the oversight of all aspects of work and projects for the Substation division to include the planning, scheduling and installation, construction, maintenance, and repair of substations. This position will assist with the recruitment and development of crews as well as assisting the Director of Operations with customer relations and overall strategic planning and execution within the division.
Provides general oversight to crews performing maintenance and construction activities on various projects.
Assists in developing project estimates and work plans.
Responsible for overall hiring and development of all crews.
Coordinates all personnel and scheduling for projects.
Responsible for monitoring and ensuring safety and productivity of crews.
Oversees Superintendents by coordinating and assigning tasks, monitoring work, training and mentoring.
Responsible for communication and coordination with customers, vendors, subcontractors, and internal project management.
Facilitates coordination with internal departments, including Project Management, Procurement, Accounting and Human Resources, Fleet and Tools.
Responsible for the productivity, progress, and performance of various projects, ensuring that all work is performed in accordance with job specifications and regulations and within the allotted schedule.
Reads and interprets site plans, construction drawings, schedules, and scopes of work.
Ensures efficient use of materials and equipment assigned to each project.
Reviews performance concerns and documents, implements corrective actions as needed
Reviews safety meetings with crews, all required paperwork, incident reports, vehicle inspections, and safety reports.
Understands and enforces DOT and OSHA standards, as well as company-specific standards.
Reviews timesheets and job reports.
Holds Superintendents accountable for all equipment and tools including bucket trucks, digger derricks, cranes, skid steers, excavation equipment, and other equipment.
Other duties as assigned.

10 years: Substation Experience
Preferred
5 years: Supervisory, Substation Foreman, or General Foreman experience
