Provide guidance and reviews of P&C design of big capital P&C design projects done by A&E firms or other junior designers or contractors.
Able to provide P&C design for electrical utility projects for distribution and transmission voltages of company Switching stations and Substations from 4kV up to and including 500kV.
Proficient in working independently on the following P&C drawings: one line diagrams, relay protection and control schematics, instrumentation and alarm schematics, SCADA controls, racks and panels views, wiring diagrams, equipment layouts, cable schedules and bill of materials.
Coordinate design with electrical layout designers and engineers, system protection, construction supervisors, commissioning engineers, and field personnel.
Provide technical expertise to the Divisions and construction personnel.
Coordinate with vendors and manufacturers and review technical documentation related to P&C design.
Lead and mentor junior designers and actively participate in technical discussions as needed by the projects.
Able to organize design assignments and be the leader overseeing and checking the work of junior level designers and contractors.
Be an active participant and contributor to improvements in standards and design processes.
Proved working experience with engineering and design of microprocessor relays for transmission and distribution lines, busses, transformers, PARs, reactors, capacitors for switching stations and substations 4kV-500kV.
Deep knowledge in controls of high voltage breakers, GIS, high voltage equipment monitoring and SCADA.
Working for protection and controls group
Master’s Degree or years of experience equivalent working for a Utility or an Engineering Firm that has worked with a Utility
Experience with protection and controls – 10+ years of experience
345 KV experience is sufficient
GIS experience is preferred but will consider a candidate with AIS experience.
Experience with high voltage equipment
Must have hands on relay experience, transmission and distribution experience. Not just knowledge. But do not need testing relay experience
Design and construction experience is a must
Experience reviewing complex projects. Someone who has dealt with drawings. Candidate will be leading projects.
Work must be onsite. No remote work.
Field work experience is a plus. Candidate will have occasional visits at the beginning of the project and the end.
