Title: DCS Commissioning Engineer

The Distributed Control Systems (DCS) Engineer is responsible for coordinating the control instrumentation check-out and verification activities including loop check, logic verification, control variable running, configuration, and graphic application of controls equipment, systems, and facilities.
The Distributed Control Systems (DCS) Engineer reports to and supports the Control Systems Superintendent to develop and maintain a coordinated approach towards project planning and project management.
PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
Devises, plans, schedules, and directs preparation of automated distributed control programs which facilitate power plant operations and solves ancillary problems.
Develops programs from workflow charts or diagrams, considering factors such as computer storage capacity and speed, extent of peripheral equipment, and intended use of any output data generated.
Consults with managerial and systems analysis personnel to clarify program intent and operational needs, identify problems, suggest changes, and determine extent of programming and coding required.
Analyzes test runs on computer to correct or direct correction of coded program, input data, logic sequence, and operational output, as well as data output.
Revises or directs revision of existing programs to increase operating efficiency or adapt to new requirements.
Converts workflow charts to language process able by computer. Enters program codes into computer. Enters test data into computer.
Compiles documentation of program development and subsequent revisions. Prepares records and reports.
The successful candidate should be able to read and understand corporate programs, policies, procedures and instructions specific to the O&M Agreement. Qualifications must include the following:
Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) from 4-year college or university; or 2 to 4 years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience in the power industry is preferred; strong DCS programming or startup background
Experience with Siemens T-3000 required
Must possess the ability to instruct, direct, and manage personnel in the pre-commissioning, start-up and initial facility operational phase of a project.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
Good communication, teamwork, and presentation skills.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
