This Opportunity
WSP is currently initiating a search for a Field Health and Safety Inspector for our Albany, New York office. The following locations will also be considered: New York City, Valhalla/Hudson Valley, NY offices. General Description: To perform field safety inspection work as assigned by the Project Safety Director or Deputy Program Director.

Duties & Responsibilities:

-Identify and report data for Client/Project safety, health, environmental and quality activities.
-Identify and report Client/Project Performance Indicators (KPIs) where health, safety and quality are concerned.
-Responsible for developing, monitoring, and reporting compliance activities.
-Submits daily reports for review and approval.
-Perform complex studies and analyze data to identify process improvement opportunities.
-Continuous monitoring of all projects related activities to ensure alignment with and adherence to all Health & Safety, Quality and Environmental Management systems and plans.
-Review of all contractors submitted safety, health, environmental and quality plans prior to construction, ensuring plans adequately cover Client/Project requirements and then monitor activity for adherence to approved plans.
-Attend construction kick-off meetings to encourage and enforce compliance to Client/Project SHEQ requirements and conduct site visits to monitor compliance activities on all projects.
-Facilitate safety meetings with both internal and external personnel, training of SOP’s and various miscellaneous initiatives as requested. This includes development and presentation of material to support training, initiatives, etc.
-Assist project Managers in the development of all project QMS/EMS documentation.
-Regularly visit active project construction sites to ensure compliance to all project safety, quality and environmental requirements.
-Provide advice to contractor(s) on health & safety, quality, and environmental issues.
-Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
-Understands, trains, and enforces “Stop Work” principle
-Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Required Qualifications:

-High School Diploma or GED
-11 years' experience in project safety, health, environment and/or quality is required.
-Specific experience working in field with various construction disciplines.
-Experience with long, linear utility transmission construction.
-Capable interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a technical and non-technical audience.
-Effective self-leadership with attention to detail, results orientation, and managing multiple priorities in a dynamic work environment.
-Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
-Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
-This position is subject to and contingent upon client approval of candidates put forth for consideration by WSP.

Preferred Qualifications:

-Associate or Bachelor's Degree
-3+ years construction safety experience with a diverse project background.
-3+ years of experience working on underground high voltage transmission lines
-Completed an OSHA 30 Hour Outreach Construction Course.
-CSP or CUSP certification
