Title: Project Expeditor
Position Type: Direct Hire
Location: New Orleans, LA
Reports to: VP Operations
The PIC Group has an outstanding opportunity for a Project Expeditor, supporting a solutions-based provider of electrical and electrical integration equipment located in New Orleans, LA. The Project Expeditor plays a critical role in collaborating with the Project Management team to ensure the project stages are executed efficiently from inception to delivery. The Project Expeditor reports directly to the Vice President of Operations and will be a proven team collaborator and effective communicator, consistently providing keen attention to detail and validating accuracy for customer deliverables.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Proactively identify resources needed to meet customer expectations and project demands.
Effectively manage complex tasks related to process expediting and project administration.
Work under deadlines and effectively prioritize internal and external tasks.
Responsible for maintaining and in some cases creating project reports and documentation, to include change orders, project status reports, and project spreadsheets and schedules
Track purchased materials from time of purchase order to receipt in the field through vendor and construction
Personnel communication, maintaining material tracking spreadsheet with weekly published updates
Review purchase orders for accuracy in materials ordered and contracted costs included.
Actively participate in project management meetings, weekly project reviews and design review meetings
to gain an understanding of the project lifecycle and the technical issues inherent in the project lifecycle.
Effectively utilize project folder structure and network files for all work performed.
Update Project Managers on the status of equipment orders and delivery, including delays and any corrective action required.
Manage tasks for the Vice President of Operations and others on the project management team as needed.
Consistently work as a team, collaborating to promote on time/on budget project completion.
Strong understanding of purchasing process for industrial materials.
Thorough understanding of an engineering, construction, manufacturing or other technical field.
Proven organizational skills, as well as the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks at once.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, including working knowledge and use of Word, Excel, and Project.
Effective communication skills with internal and external personnel.
Professional attitude and demeanor required at all times.
Ability to work as a team and promote team collaboration.
Legal authorization to work in the US is required. No sponsorship of individuals for employment visas permitted.
Prolonged standing/sitting may be required.
Occasionally lift up to 25#
Education / Experience:
High School diploma required.
BA/BS degree in business preferred.
3+ years administrative project management experience required.
2+ years of buying experience, preferably in industrial procurement.
2+ years project expediting experience a strong plus.
