Lead Commissioning Engineer Substation and Electrical Systems (Mid-Atlantic Region)
About the Role
ExecuPOWER is seeking a Lead Commissioning Engineer to join our growing Field Services Team, supporting clients across the Mid-Atlantic Region (PA, NJ, DE, MD, and D.C.). This newly created role offers an exciting opportunity to lead substation commissioning projects in the power delivery sector. What You Will Do:
Safety Leadership:
Ensure all engineering, construction, and operational activities align with safety protocols, minimizing risks during substation commissioning projects.
Project Management:
Provide cost and resource estimates for testing and commissioning tasks.
Oversee and resolve on-site challenges, ensuring timely project delivery.
Technical Expertise:
Support the Substation Engineering Team by staying updated on industry standards, client requirements, and leading-edge technologies.
Commissioning Execution:
Develop and execute commissioning plans, covering design, execution, and closeout phases.
Perform on-site commissioning tasks, including electrical apparatus, insulation, and relay testing.
System Validation:
Conduct wire checks, system function tests, and operational readiness evaluations.
Lead pre-energization checks and oversee initial energization activities.
Safety and Operational Planning:
Review and provide input on blocking and outage plans.
Develop and validate switch orders, ensuring operational and safety concerns are addressed.
What You Will Need:
Location:
Availability to work on-site across the Mid-Atlantic Region.
Education:
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (required).
Experience:
Minimum of 10 years in substation engineering, electrical system testing, or commissioning.
At least 5 years of leadership, team lead, or project management experience.
Leadership Skills:
Ability to work independently at client sites and mentor entry-level engineers.
Travel and Availability:
Willingness to travel within the region.
Ability to work overtime as required, with time-and-a-half compensation.
Preferred Qualifications:
5+ years of relay testing experience.
Utility industry expertise.
FE or PE License (preferred but not required).
